Sensei Hicks began his martial arts training in 1998 in the art of Lau Gar Kung Fu and then Freestyle Karate.
Straight away he knew he wanted to teach, helping assist his instructor in the children’s classes as well as training 3 nights a week and competing on the national martial art competition circuit, where he has reached world champion status on many occasions.
As a Instructor he is among one of the best in the country, with a great back ground knowledge in many martial arts including Tang Soo Do, Kickboxing, Kung Fu and Karate as well of a amazing connection with children and adults alike. Previous world titles include BBI World Champions, Judgement Day World Champions and WFMC World Champion a and Sensei Also hold many British and National Titles.
Currently graded to 5th degree black belt (Master) Sensei Hicks continues to learn new skills, teaching motivating and innovated martial arts classes. He is also the owner and chief instructor of Hicks Karate School of Excellence.
He has done extensive research into the best way to teach martial arts to children of different ages and adults. Fully trained in Little Ninjas, Children’s Karate, Family Karate, Hyper Pro, Hyper Fight Club, Fitness Kickboxing and Adults Karate Sensei Hicks has spent years not only learning how to practice the martial arts but how to teach the arts in the best way possible to the given audience

Mr Hobbs has trained with Sensei Hicks and Hicks Karate School since 1993. He also has martial arts experience in Judo, Taekwondo, Kickboxing and Karate.
Mr Hobbs has been part of the I.S.K.A and W.O.M.A.A British teams and holds 4 British titles, 3 World titles as well as many other national and international titles.
Mr Hobbs passes on his competition and knowledge as the head coach of Hicks Karate Elite competition team and has personally helped train many British, European and World champions. His classes are very popular and he is an asset to our instructor team.

Miss Hickman has been training in martial arts since 2001 and takes the lead of our preschool martial arts classes. Her outside training in child care and experience working in a nursery environment together with her martial arts expertise is an asset to these programmes.
Miss Hickman also teaches our Extreme Creative Kata team and competes as part of our National team in both Creative Forms and Combat Sparring.
Competing regularly around England she holds National, British and European titles.

Miss Mollie Godfrey has been training with Hicks Family Martial Arts since she was 6 years old. She has worked her way through the children’s belts, then the adults belt, helped as part of the storm team then being promoted to junior Instructor in 2019 and promoted again to Instructor in 2021. She is currently working towards he 3rd Degree Black Belt.
She currently teach all our pre school 2- 4 years old Little Ninja’s program and children’s 4 – 8 year old programmes as well as teaching our Hyper Pro Training Program.
Mr Jason Brudenell

Mr Brudenell has been with Hicks Family Martial Arts since its early years training alongside his dad. He took a break from martial arts but returned to the sport when his two children expressed their interest in following in his footsteps. Since the Mr Brudenell has demonstrated great commitment to his training pushing through injury to achieve his higher belt in his quest for Black Belt success and earning his 1s degree Black Belt. Having his whole family train Martial Arts at different levels and stages of their journey he know only too well how Martial Arts can be a true family sport and his experience in Martial Arts for different ages and stages makes him a truly valued member of our team.
Mr Brudenell’s dream of becoming an Instructor began when he started to volunteer as an adult STORM team member, helping other in class with techniques and skills. His gentle humorous manner is a hit with adults and children alike. His gentle humorous manner is a hit with teaching children’s classes at both the Dojo and also in satellite classes in the local area.
Mr Brudenell continues to develop and improve his own skills by regular attending the adults classes and volunteering, coaching and refereeing at event organised by our Martial Arts School.
Mr David Prior

Mr Prior has been training with Hicks Family Martial Arts since the early year of Hicks Family Martial Arts School. With years of training at our school he has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share. Mr Prior has earned Black Belt 1st Dan and has been part of our Instructor team since 2017. Mr Priors children (Who are now all adults) have also trained regular as part of our Martial Arts school.
He is a be part of our Fight club program and coaching team and with over 30 years of competition experience he has a lot to pass on to both new and experienced fighters which he does by assisting in our Fight club classes and coaching at competition across the country many weekends of the year.

Aaron has been training since 2009 (at just 6 years old), he started in our Karate4Kids program quickly showing a skill and keen interest in sparring and competition. He has entered and won many title including competing at both national and international level.
Aaron has been a member of our storm team member since he was 9 and at the age of 14 joined our Instructor Training program and at the age of 16 earned the title of junior instructor.
He is currently a college earning qualifications in the building trade and continues helping, teaching and training. (He is have a breaking from competing at the moment after a serious shoulder injury and surgery although he support the team by helping coach at tournament all over the country.
Miss Lucy Hicks

Lucy has been training since 2007 (at just 3 years old), she started in our Little Ninjas program, then moved up into our Karate4Kids program developing a passion for competition both sparring and Creative Katas alike. She has entered and won many titles including British titles competing at both national and international level.
As soon as she could, she started helping in classes, becoming a storm team member and at the age of 14 joined our Instructor Training program and at the age of 16 earned the title of junior instructor.
She is currently studding a levels in media and sport at 6th form college and continues helping, teaching and learning. After a couple of years off from competitions after an elbow injury and surgery, she is returning this year as young adult.
